Already been a few times, have Temple Church, return to Borough Market, concert in St. James Park and Hamilton on London list, want to go to Lacock and Lacock Abbey and re-visit Wells while in Bath. Is there a good Sunday Roast available after 3pm in Bath? It's the day we get in, but have to have my Sunday Roast.

(19,486 posts)On our next UK trip, my husband and I plan to spend several days there.
There is the Fashion Museum there that I plan to make a day trip of. I am a Professional Costumer who specializes in the Tudor/Elizabethan periods. But I also do other areas of Period Clothing, Cosplay costuming, and more.
Also, there is the Abbey in the center that I want to go through as well as Salisbury Cathedral not far away in the Cottswolds. Jane Austen lived there a number of years, where she wrote Pride and Prejudice, and Sense and Sensibility. My husband found a few Pubs in Bath that were atmospheric that he wants to return to.
Also when in London....the V&A, the Globe, British Museum, the Churchill War Rooms again, Florence Nightangale Museum. Whitehall, the Royal Mews, Kensington Palace, Portsmouth, up to Scotland, and more.

Whne I toured the Roman (Anglicized and touristized) Bathes it cracked me up how, despite signs everywhere saying not to drink the water, about a third of the people had to anyway with a dip of the hand and a taste. I'm sure you know this already but it will forever be a lasting memory for me, of human nature.
Won't catch me drinking it!

(1,911 posts)Based on my living in Bath for about 5 years (right in the city centre) I have two suggestions for you:
1) The Marlborough tavern - slightly pricey, but worth the visit. You NEED to make a reservation a couple of weeks in advance. Take a taxi as parking is sparse.
2) The Pig and Fiddle - affordable and a bit earthy with nice local flavour/colour. You can park at the Waitrose car park around the corner. Its a fixture. Not sure if they still serve a Sunday roast so best check first. Still, visit for a pint or 3.
3) bonus - if you want a fab Italian meal (and local Italian restaurants are disappearing in the U.K.) try cafe Rustico. Tell Franco or Darix that that crazy American and his Dutch wife recommended
It. They will take care of you. Best food in bath. Trust me.
Currently Bath has a lot of shop fronts closed up due to excessive rents. Its still lovely (typical Brit response when I mention I lived in Bath, Oh, Bath is lovely!)
I hope you enjoy it! Its LOVELY!

(14,829 posts)I would try a pub called the Hop Pole near the Royal Crescent.
Also, be prepared for LOTS of buskers in Bath.
