WI-SD08: Spending in Duey Stroebel, Jodi Habush Sinykin race for state Senate sets a record
A North Shore race for the state Senate has emerged as one of the biggest political fights in Wisconsin this year.
And it's already costing big bucks.
State Sen. Duey Stroebel, R-Cedarburg, is being challenged by Democratic candidate Jodi Habush Sinykin for the four-year job that pays $57,408 per year, with the two launching stinging 30-second attack ads against one another on all four Milwaukee broadcast TV stations.
Records show that the candidates, along with two outside groups, have already spent more than $2.5 million on the race. And with Stroebel and Sinykin's campaigns currently sitting on another $500,000 in the bank with nearly a month still to go before the election, the race for the Senate's 8th District will likely end up costing all parties a total of more than $3 million.
