The traffic pileup along Interstate 41 in Washington County during whiteout snowstorm conditions on Wednesday killed one person and involved about 100 vehicles, law enforcement said Thursday.

The Wisconsin State Patrol identified the fatal victim as a 37-year-old woman from Trenton, Tenn.

Washington County Sheriff Martin Schulteis said 20 crashes involving about 100 cars unfolded along an 18-mile stretch of the Interstate shortly before noon Wednesday.

As of Thursday morning, law enforcement released details on two specific crash scenes: one near Arthur Road and another near Cedar Creek Road, both located near Slinger.
