WISCONSIN The Badger State has the most hospitalizations tied to coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic.
As of Tuesday, Sept. 22, 474 people are currently in the hospital due to coronavirus. That number includes 134 ICU patients, according to the Wisconsin Hospital Association.
358 people are on ventilators or a form of ventilatory equipment.
This is the highest number of hospitalizations Wisconsin has seen since April 9, when 446 Wisconsinites were hospitalized. At that time, 196 people were in the ICU, which remains the record high of Wisconsin coronavirus ICU patients. WHA says Wisconsin's 133 hospitals have a total of 1,475 ICU beds, 304 of which could be made immediately available.
6,765 Wisconsinites have been hospitalized due to coronavirus throughout the pandemic, at a 6.5 percent hospitalization rate.

(8,655 posts)The hospitals capable of dealing with those sick with COVID-19 are few and far between. I have a niece who works at the nearest one to me and she has said as recently as May that they had no freaking plan to deal with it at all. She told me if I get sick, go to another hospital 1-1.5 hours away.

(11,869 posts)And four women did not have masks! We have a problem!
My Father served in WWII and told me the stories of how people not only sacrificed they were doing it with a sense of humor, willingly, and wanted to do more. No meat. Save materials, metals, go without for years and don't horde. We are 8 months into this and weakness both mentally and physically is showing. Hoping for the best!

(8,655 posts)I had a call with my FauxNews-watching mom this morning. At least she gets away from it enough to realize she needs to wear a mask and follow the rules as much as possible. But it took loads of pressure from me last spring to get her that far.
This morning, I got the "it's all China's fault" bs and just about fell over. WTF, mom? So then I had to remind her that we knew about this in November and did nothing. NOTHING. We didn't even start testing people coming in, quarantining, or even shutting the borders until it was already here.
JFC, I hate these days.

(11,869 posts)I have to go into work tomorrow and will wear a N95 mask. At my work gloves are a available as is sanitizer. I avoid contact and when I get home I isolate. And, I get to chat with like-mind people like you. I also walk and garden more than ever. A new normal has some good, I guess.
