Bob Ferguson maintains six point lead over Dave Reichert, inches closer to 50% in Washington gubernatorial race
Voters in Washington appear set to send Democratic Attorney General Bob Ferguson and former Republican Congressman Dave Reichert to the November ballot as the states two 2024 finalists for governor, with Ferguson maintaining a six point head-to-head general election advantage over Reichert, a new poll conducted for NPI has found.
39% of 581 likely August Top Two election voters surveyed yesterday and Wednesday by Public Policy Polling for NPI said Ferguson was their choice for governor, an increase of four points since May. 28% said Reichert was their choice, the same percentage he received in May. 10% said they were voting for the Washington State Republican Partys endorsed candidate Semi Bird, an ousted Richland School Board member who was sent packing in a recall last summer. 5% said they were voting for Democratic State Senator Mark Mullet, who is in his third term in the Legislature. 2% said they were voting for another candidate not named in our survey. And 16% were not sure.
In our head-to-head question, 49% of respondents said theyd back Ferguson if the general election were being held now, while 43% said theyd vote for Reichert. Thats an increase of one percentage point for both candidates since our May survey.
Fergusons advantage over Reichert remains at six points. The Democratic frontrunner is nearly at the threshold of majority support, which indicates that Reicherts path to victory has almost vanished, even before the arrival of the autumn campaign season.
