Icy roads close schools in Edmonds, Mukilteo, Snohomish and beyond

EDMONDS — Ice Day doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.

After another combo of freezing conditions and new precipitation hit Snohomish County, schools closed Wednesday due to icy roads.

Edmonds, Monroe, Mukilteo, Northshore, Snohomish, Stanwood-Camano and Sultan schools were closed Wednesday.

Meanwhile, schools in the Arlington, Lakewood and Marysville were on a two-hour late start.

Western Snohomish County was under a winter weather advisory until 1 p.m. Wednesday, with a glaze of freezing rain hitting the region. The eastern reaches of the county were under a winter storm warning until Thursday afternoon, with another foot or two of snow expected to accumulate in the Cascades. Winds could gust up to 40 mph there.
