LIHI cottage development aimed at people exiting homelessness

The Low Income Housing Institute recently completed Sand Point Cottage Community, a 22-unit cottage development in Seattle's Magnuson Park neighborhood. The development will cater to people exiting homelessness.

The project, which cost $5.2 million to construct, sits on about 2 acres of city-owned land at 6343 NE 65th St. The cost works out to over $263,000 per unit.

The city is leasing the site to LIHI, a nonprofit housing provider, for $1 a year, provided the land is used for affordable housing.

Sand Point Cottage Community is expected to house 36 residents, including individuals, families, veterans, people with disabilities and senior citizens.
