Link light rail service through the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel will be delayed for two weeks after the tunnel was damaged last week while crews were working to remove a street-level clock from Westlake Station.
The repairs are expected to take two weeks and Sound Transit said during this time travelers should plan extra time for their trips and consider alternative modes of getting through downtown.
During this time. passengers traveling southbound will need to transfer at Capitol Hill station to another train to continue their trips, while passengers traveling northbound will need to transfer at Stadium station. Trains will run through the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel in each direction every 30 minutes. Trains between the Northgate and Capitol Hill stations and trains between the Stadium and Angle Lake stations will run every 10 minutes.
Because trains can only pass through the transit tunnel one direction at a time, the northbound platforms at Westlake, University Street, Pioneer Square, and International District stations are closed. The southbound platforms will be open at those stations and they will be serving both north and southbound trains.
