Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff Highlights Voting Rights During Charlottesville Campaign Visit
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff visited Charlottesville on Wednesday (September 25), addressing the University of Virginia Law Democrats and discussing key voting rights issues ahead of the 2024 election. Emhoffs visit was part of the broader Harris-Walz campaign tour, which focused on voter access and the importance of election participation.
At UVA, Emhoff provided training to law students who will serve as poll observers in Virginia, helping them identify and report common voter issues, such as incorrect guidance on registration, polling location discrepancies, voter intimidation, and disability access. His remarks focused on the campaigns efforts related to voting rights, addressing potential challenges that may arise during the upcoming election.
He also pointed out how these students help support voter protection efforts in parts of Virginia where there arent enough local poll observers.
Later in the evening, Emhoff delivered remarks at a campaign reception hosted by John and Renee Grisham in Charlottesville.
