BURKE, Va. Two people were found dead inside a home in Burke, Virginia, Friday morning and police believe the bodies had been there for a while, according to Fairfax County Police Department Lt. Daniel Spital.
Police are investigating the incident as a double homicide and have not ruled the incident as a murder-suicide as of yet, Spital said.
Officers were called to the home in the 6100 block of Eagle Landing around 8:15 a.m. when they found two adult bodies in the home. Spital said it was a family member, who was also a resident of the home, that called police after doing a welfare check. He said the family member had not had contact with the victims in a while which has left police unclear on how long the bodies have been in the home. Police said there was no sign that the killer broke into the home.
"There was no evidence of forced entry," Spital said. "We do not believe this was a random act of violence."
Spital said police believe the victims were family but they are awaiting a full examination of the body to confirm that detail. He also said police had been called to the house several times before.
