An influential grassroots group with close ties to Texas Republican lawmakers is hosting a conference next month that encourages its attendees to embrace Christian nationalism and resist a Democratic campaign to rid the earth of the white race.
Billed as the 15th anniversary celebration for True Texas Project, a far-right activist group that got its start as a North Texas tea party organization, the agenda claims there is a war on white America, and elevates theories that white Americans are being intentionally replaced through immigration a common belief among far-right extremists, including many mass shooters.
Its absolutely vital we remember that when they say white supremacy or white nationalism or whatever the most recent scare phrase is, they literally just mean your heritage and historical way of life, reads the description for a session on Multiculturalism & The War on White America. Its a culture war, simple as that. Stop apologizing. Stop backing down. Start fighting back.

This is who and what Democrats are fighting in this State. Had dinner last weekend with family. No political talk allowed. As I sat there it occurred to me that none of them see what is coming because each believes they are exempt from any of this due to their assumed privilege.
Some members of our family are Mexican American and we love each one of them. In their zeal to build the wall they fail to recognize they are at risk, too. Not one of them believes they will ever be pulled over and asked for their ID simply because they appear Hispanic.
We have some family members who attend religious services outside the mainstream. We love each one of them, too. They fail to see if MAGA Mike and Dan Patrick have their way their church will be the first one closed.
We have some 20/30 somethings who struggle to buy a home. Interest rates are high and home prices have exploded here. They fail to see that if Steve Bannon has his way they will no longer be allowed to vote because they dont own property.
We have women of child bearing age who are all in for the States abortion laws. In their privilege they fail to recognize they might need these services someday. But more importantly they cannot see that their preferred method of contraception is at risk, too.
Our family members are doing well. Currently, they make more money than they ever imagined, they drive new cars and several are building new homes. The restaurant was packed with folks just like our family. Restaurants, Costco, Academy, etc parking lots are full everyday. It looks like Christmas. They think the good times will never end.
It doesnt make sense, does it?

I still dont understand how the Republican Party convinces these folks to vote against their self interests? It baffles my mind.
To some politics is like football. Each side is a team and some want to be on the winning team. Others are fact adverse. Others are just brain dead and really dont care as long as they can own the libs. Whatevs

(6,230 posts)Their slightest fears are fed and enhanced. They are convinced that those 'warning' them can 'fix' it all by allowing these same snakes to get into the government and then their 'fears' will be taken care of. They never realize that their 'fears' are how those snakes control the sheep and will never be 'taken care of'. But, it is easier than accepting that those long held and generationally taught biases are worse than evil... far easier...
Plus, The Eyes Of Texas Are Upon You and all...
Too many folks believe exactly what the fear mongers sell. They fail to see the worm in the apple, the thorn on the rose bush, and the snake in the Garden until it is too late.
