Beto O'Rourke kicks off Drive for Texas on Tuesday in El Paso

Call it Beto Live.

The Democratic nominee for governor is preparing to launch a campaign tour that O’Rourke says will focus on Texas family, friendly events, complete with lively conversations.

“You can’t do this stuff over TV or at a distance,” O’Rourke said.

On Tuesday evening, El Pasoans are invited as he starts his 49-day, 5,600-plus-mile statewide “Drive for Texas.”

The event starts at 6 p.m. at Lowbrow Palace, 1006 Texas Ave.

O’Rourke plans to visit every part of the state this summer and hold more than 70 events in more than 65 counties as he campaigns to become Texas’ 49th governor in a race that pits him against incumbent Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, a news release said.
