Related: About this forumHow the heck can we get the Beto ball rolling? No one seems to have a clue how to energize the Dems,
much less the rest of Texans. People contribute but see nothing come of it. My County chair is very excited that Beto is coming here but he came before and votes moved not a smidge in this 75% RW voters. We need innovational strategies and motivational speakers. Not just people blathering about the evil Abbott and the Repug party. 5,259,126 Texans voted for Biden. Where are they and how can we add to this number?

(15,000 posts)Dems across the US, I give them not a cent. Help us. This will come back in a much stronger manner than giving, for example, money to predominately blue states. But just not money, where are our exciting leaders and thought provoking folks?

The latest poll shows that it is a five-point race and the governor still has to keep the electrical grid running for two more hot months and hurricane season. That also doesn't include the additional outrage that comes from abortion rights and gun reform.
I don't know if it would be effective to be thought of as "thought provokers." I'm hopeful that Texans prefer sanity instead and that is where Texas Democrats stand out from Republicans who have cornered the market on crazy.

(116,516 posts)I think we will start seeing more ads on TV after Labor Day which is the traditional start of the political schedule. I'm actually thankful that the advertisements have not appeared, lest we burned out by Election Day.
I'm not certain that advertising on billboards is that effective. The messages on them will have to be about the same length as a bumper sticker because most people won't be able to take their eyes off of driving. As someone else mentioned on DU, there are some billboard owners in the rural counties that won't even accept business from Democratic candidates.
Beto has also snagged some media appearances on cable news (particularly MSNBC) and the late night talk shows. At this stage of the campaign, it may be a wiser use of resources to defer to those appearances and go on his 49 day tour around the state so that he will have more to spend on his campaign in September and October. Those appearances in small towns do get attention in the local newspapers and I try to post those articles when I see them.

(15,000 posts)would be great: https://www.democraticunderground.com/100216939613 How about this: Abbott what are you doing to protect Texas Seniors from losing their social security? Have you discussed this with our senators? Are you ok with this?, etc. Women are dying from your abortion law. Do you care? Are you going to see that they do not? etc.

(15,000 posts)"I am trying to understand! Listen we produced a great ad and premiered it at Convention. We met with educators to work on our education messaging. We are gonna partner with other orgs to produce new candidate training. I feel good about how we used our time but also WTAF!" She was extremely frustrated at so many things that happened. Was a delegate to 4 and as much as we worked I never felt like we really got our message across outside the convention facilities.
