Beer-drinking repairman gets probation for storming the U.S. Capitol
A Keller man who brought a beer can into the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6 riot as a prop for social media posts making light of the violent siege was sentenced on Friday to three months probation, court records show.
Thomas Paul Conover, a 53-year-old vehicle dent repairman, posted online that he didnt always storm the Capitol but that when he did, he preferred Coors Light. He had pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor.
Conover wasnt violent and didnt do any damage. Hed faced up to six months in prison. U.S. District Judge Florence Pan in Washington D.C. also ordered him to pay a $2,500 fine.
He is the third Dallas-Fort Worth area resident accused of being a rioter among more than two dozen total defendants to date to be sentenced in the massive and historic case. More than 700 people nationwide have been charged in connection with the insurrection. The two other local defendants who pleaded guilty were sentenced to time behind bars.
