Tennessee congressman proposes resolution creating path for a third Trump term

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — President Donald J. Trump is just a few days into his second term and one Tennessee lawmaker wants to open the door for a potential third Trump term.

Tennessee U.S. Representative Andy Ogles (R-TN-5), has filed a Joint Resolution in Congress proposing a change to the 22nd Amendment of the Constitution of the United States which limits presidents to just two terms.

Rep. Ogles wants to make the change to allow President Trump and future presidents to serve three terms.

The resolution states:

‘‘No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than three times, nor be elected to any additional term after being elected to two consecutive terms, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.’’
