How to become a poll worker in Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — It’s almost time for early voting ahead of the November 5 elections, which means the deadline to apply to be a poll worker is coming up soon as well.

Whether you feel strongly about the electoral process, or you’re just looking for a way to make a little extra money on the side, becoming a poll worker can be a rewarding position. During elections, poll workers are stationed at polling sites in their communities during early voting and on election day. Their responsibilities include greeting voters, answering questions, explaining how to cast a ballot, using the voting equipment, and counting votes.

While some poll workers may prefer to volunteer their services, the job is one that is compensated for in Tennessee. Poll workers are also paid for attending any required training sessions.
