Orangeburg needs poll workers before the general election race

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — The November election is just over two months away, and the Orangeburg County Voter Registration Office needs about 20 to 30 more poll workers.

There are a few requirements; poll workers should be able to lift at least 30 pounds, must be over 16 years old, and if they are over 18 need to be a registered South Carolina voter.

The voter registration office will be providing poll workers both online and in-person training that is expected to last between two and three hours.

Aurora Smalls is the director at the Orangeburg County Voter Registration Office. Due to unforeseen circumstances poll workers might not show up on election day and she says having back ups helps things run smoother.
