Up for debate: Gambling, abortion, Confederate monuments, the death penalty and barbers
State senators will consider bills next year on abortion, Confederate memorials, the death penalty, gambling, shadowy political groups and teachers' pay — as well as a proposal to honor barbers.
The third Wednesday in February would be designated as "Barber's Day" in South Carolina "in recognition of the cultural significance of barbering and the invaluable contributions of the practice of barbering in the Palmetto State" under a bill introduced by Sen. Glenn Reese, a Democrat from Spartanburg. There are 4,100 barbers in the state, according to the bill.
Reese, who owns Krispy Kreme stores in Anderson and Spartanburg, said his barber suggested that he sponsor the measure. Reese helped pay his way through college at Auburn University and the University of Alabama by working as a barber. He also said that he spoke at a national barber's convention two years ago in Charleston.
Sports betting in South Carolina?
Voters would weigh in a constitutional amendment that could lead to sports betting and casinos in South Carolina under a bill proposed by Sen. Gerald Malloy. As a result of a U.S. Supreme Court decision in May, at least six states have joined Nevada in legalizing sports betting.

I wish that the senators would be looking at other issues like voter suppression, gerrymandering, and improving social welfare benefits for the people who need them.
As far as the word-play game is concerned, I could probably put a nonsense sentence together, but I wouldn't want to strain my brain trying.
