State board issues warning to Warwick mayor over car business
CRANSTON Warwick Mayor Joseph J. Solomon was disciplined by a regulatory board that he sits on, receiving a warning on Wednesday for discrepancies related to his car sales business.
The action by the Motor Vehicle Dealers License and Hearing Board came on the heels of a probe by two investigators who looked into the possibility that Solomons business, Legal Motors Ltd. on West Shore Road, wasnt properly occupied. Their findings were discussed at a public hearing on Wednesday.
The back and forth with the board created a bit of a spectacle: a mayor of Rhode Islands second largest city appearing with his lawyer to resolve questions about his car sales business.
Question came from a board that Solomon continued to serve on Wednesday despite a recent request from the office of Gov. Gina Raimondos for his resignation.
