Harris, Trump in tense battle over Puerto Rican voters in Pennsylvania

READING, Pa. — Attendees came draped in Puerto Rican flags and clothes showing off their island roots. Cars blasted the music of Marc Anthony and Bad Bunny as people sang and danced. Women played dominoes on a float as vendors sold beef empanadillas and batidas de parcha. And more than 100 supporters of Vice President Kamala Harris marched through the Puerto Rican Day parade, holding up signs and flags as they received loud cheers.

But when they reached the end of the five-block parade route, things got tense.

ormer president Donald Trump’s campaign has an office for Latino outreach on that street corner — and dozens of Trump supporters were holding signs and flags waiting to drown out the cheers.
“Trump! Trump! Trump!” some chanted. Harris supporters countered them. “When Democrats win, our community wins!” one woman shouted.
