man held for 30 days, $1M dollars bail. then woman admits she fabricated rape charge

Woman Fabricated Attempted Rape, Kidnapping, Cops Say

A Bristol Township woman’s report of an attempted rape and assault at Langhorne Square in Middletown Township last month led to the wrongful arrest and 31-day incarceration of an innocent man before the accuser admitted to fabricating the story, according to court papers filed on Monday.

On April 16, Middletown Township police were called for a report of an attempted rape and assault at the Langhorne Square shopping center on East Lincoln Highway. The incident, which occurred near Redner’s Market, led to the arrest the next day of Daniel Pierson, 41, of Yardley.

Anjela Urumova, 20, reported the incident to police and claimed that a man grabbed her from behind as she exited her truck between 7:50 and 8:10 p.m. Urumova alleged that the man attempted to pull her pants down and dragged her approximately 15 feet towards his truck, which was described as an older blue Ford with a “Thin Blue Line” sticker and visible dents and rust.

Upon police arrival, Urumova was found visibly bleeding from her right lip and provided a detailed description of the attacker’s vehicle and its path out of the parking lot, authorities said.

The Middletown Township Police Department used the agency’s automatic license plate reader system to identify a truck matching the description and linked it to Pierson, whose physical appearance matched Urumova’s description, authorities said.

Pierson was arrested on April 17 and charged with attempting kidnapping, attempted rape, false imprisonment, and other offenses. He was jailed with a $1 million bail due to the serious charges.

Officers say data pulled from Urumova's iPhone and surveillance video in the parking lot contradicted her story of events.

During a second meeting with police on May 17, authorities say Urumova admitted that she lied about the entire incident and that no assault occurred in the Redner's parking lot on April 16, according to the criminal complaint filed Monday.

When asked why she chose Pierson, she says that she saw the truck and Pierson in the parking lot of her previous employer in the past and thought he was "creepy," the criminal complaint states.

Urumova reportedly told officers she used the description of her then-boyfriend's clothing to describe Pierson.

As for the injuries she claimed to have suffered, Urumova allegedly admitted that she suffered a laceration on her lip during an altercation with a family member.

How many people shunned him? Did he lose his job? 30 days in jail for nothing! I’m sure when asked, he said he was innocent, but nobody believed him. I hope he can sue the police and this woman. His life could be affected forever.

EDIT: The answer was in the article. My Bad.

Urumova was charged with false alarm to an agency of public safety, false report to falsely incriminate another, false reports for offense that did not occur, unsworn falsification to authorities, unsworn falsification to authorities with forged or altered documents, unsworn falsification to authorities with a false sample/object, and tamper with/fabricate physical evidence. She was preliminarily arraigned at 1:45 p.m. before District Judge Chuck Jonas and held on 10 percent of $30,000 bail.

This isn't some story you drunk pedfle in a bar without real names.

She called police. She described a vehicle in enough detail they were able to locate it. She described the driver in enough detail he matched her description.

She left him in jail for over a month, and only confessed when faced with enough evidence She couldn't deny it.

And the worst part is this casts a pall on all legitimate victims of assault who come forward and are dismissed.

People can be shits.

Beyond the immediate legal repercussions, the damage to their mental health, reputation, and future prospects of the falsely can be profound and long-lasting.

It's easy to imagine that the falsely accused may experience anxiety, depression, PTSD, and a deep sense of injustice. The stigma associated with being accused of rape can lead to social isolation, job loss, and financial hardship (rental eviction, vehicle repossession, defaulting on loans, etc.)

Moreover, false accusations can have a chilling effect on the willingness of true victims to come forward. When a woman falsely accuses a man of rape, it casts a shadow of doubt on all future accusations, making it more difficult for genuine victims to be believed and receive the support they deserve.

The impact of false accusations extends beyond the individual. They erode trust in the justice system and undermine the credibility of the #MeToo movement, which aims to empower victims of sexual assault. These false claims ultimately harm all women by making it harder for them to be taken seriously when they report legitimate assaults.

The vast majority of rape accusations are true, and victims deserve our unwavering support and belief. However, we must also acknowledge the devastating impact of false accusations and strive to create a system that protects both the rights of victims and the presumption of innocence for the accused.

This woman deserves prison time. The harm she caused goes far beyond just the individuals involved!!!!
