Nine employee coronavirus cases force Walmart to shut down Bethlehem warehouse, source says
Walmart has temporarily idled its e-commerce fulfillment center in the Majestic Bethlehem Center amid an increasing number of confirmed employee cases at the south Bethlehem facility.
Employees were informed of nine confirmed associate cases Wednesday night, up from the number earlier in the week, according to a source familiar with the operation, who requested anonymity for fear of reprisal.
Asked to confirm that number, Walmart said it didnt have specific figures to provide but noted the facility did have confirmed cases this week.
Our associates well-being is critically important to us, Walmart said in a statement to The Morning Call on Thursday. Due to unique circumstances, our Bethlehem eCommerce Fulfilment Center will temporarily suspend operations until Monday, April 6, so we can make adjustments to our operations, including schedule changes and bringing specialists in to thoroughly clean and sanitize the building.
