Pennsylvania Senate sends gun bill with domestic violence protections to Wolf

A gun safety bill that appeared to face an uncertain future earlier this year now is en route to Gov. Tom Wolf’s desk and poised to become law.

State senators voted 43-5 Wednesday to advance state Rep. Marguerite Quinn’s House Bill 2060, which would require firearm owners subject to final protection from abuse orders to hand their weapons over to law enforcement, a court officer, a licensed firearms dealer or a commercial armory.

Under current law, the judge issuing the PFA order can decide whether a defendant must surrender their firearms to a sheriff or a third party, such as a family member or friend, within 24 hours.

Quinn’s bill also shortens the window gun owners convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence crimes have to relinquish their weapons, from 60 days to 24 hours.

Who somehow fails to mention her party affiliation in her ads. This is a good and important bill but also part of her attempt to look “moderate” and “bipartisan” in her purple district. Like all of them, she goes back to Harrisburg and does what she’s told.
