Rep. Greg Walden, the lone Republican in the Oregon Congressional delegation, heads a committee that is poised to play a key role in repealing the Affordable Care Act.
The Energy and Commerce Committee, which Walden chairs, will soon get to work on repeal through the budget reconciliation process, along with Ways and Means and other committees.
Rep. Greg Walden said he's hard at work cleaning up the "horrific mess" of Obamacare.
The U.S. House of Representatives today took the first step in repealing President Obamas signature law by passing a budget resolution.
Todays vote allows House committees to get to work on repealing Obamacare and rebuilding our health care system, Walden said in a statement. Put simply, Obamacare is a mess. Were ready to begin advancing solutions that will help families, lower costs, and restore fairness in the relationship between patients and their doctors. Critical work lies ahead, and we are up to the task of delivering badly needed relief for patients.

(6,409 posts)He sounds very reasonable in small groips, and he keeps a low profile, but his district includes a lot of ranchers, irrigators, fruit growers and Tea Party types, so he tries to keep them happy. They tried to primary him, and he gets support from Democrats because they fear the Tea Party might replace him with a true but job.

(5,376 posts)I live in Walden's district, have never voted for him, pretty much resigned to the fact that he's unbeatable in these parts. I just had a visit with a friend who told me she's on ACA and fully understands the peril she's in of losing her health coverage. She also lives in Walden's district. I'm taking a wild guess that there may be a few other of his constituents that will be negatively affected by his "policies" but then we're not farmers, ranchers, loggers, rednecks and Bundy supporters, who seem to be the only ones about whom Walden gives a rip.
I cry a lot lately, but to no avail. Lord help us all.
