Election preview: Marlow Public Schools bond proposal

MARLOW, Okla. (KSWO) - Election day is less than a week away, and Marlow Public Schools has a proposed transportation bond for Marlow district residents to vote on.

“We have 15 buses total,” said Marlow Public Schools Superintendent, Corey Holland. “Out of that 15, five are 16 years or older and another five are fixing to turn 10-years-old, so we have an older fleet and it’s time to update those.”

Holland said having older school buses can be an issue, especially if any were to break down, and that’s why the bond was introduced.

“When you have an aged fleet like that, it’s just a little concerning that you’re going to have problems, and last year we actually did,” Holland said. “We had two buses break down and since we were short we had to borrow some buses from a neighboring district, which isn’t ideal, but they were nice enough to let us do that. It’s just time that we update our fleet.”
