Child porn suspect had passport, unclear when he got it

A Belmont man will soon be added to a national wanted list after prosecutors say he fled to South Korea rather than face jurors who would have decided if he created and shared child pornography

Jason Edward Clemmer left the country rather than go on trial Tuesday, according to Gaston County District Attorney Locke Bell.

Clemmer, 41, faces 44 felony counts of exploitation of a minor. If found guilty of all counts, he could face more than 50 years in prison.

Bell is working with local police and plans to reach out to officials in Seoul, South Korea, where Clemmer is believed to be.

We should either not require getting the government's permission to travel, or apply the rules fairly. Obviously, it is unfair that this guy gets permission to travel while so many people are denied.
