Mayor Manheimer (D) launches re-election campaign amid Real-Time Intelligence Center protest
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Mayor Esther Manheimer kicked off her campaign for re-election on Sunday, May 17.
Manheimer is running against City Council member Kim Roney, who announced her mayoral run in September 2025.
Manheimer hosted a free event at the Marquee in the River Arts District, hearing from community members who have worked with her.
Speakers of the event included many speakers from the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners and community members, with Manheimer saying their support is important.
