See that island in the middle of that southeastern Walmart ocean? I find that encouraging, but I also find the Walmart sea to be frightening.

Do you think that 'ocean' will engulf the Old North State? Will Tarheelia see that the better investment is education? Or, will numbers rule the day?

The article you referenced said they only looked at companies with headquarters in Illinois. Do you have any information about how many employees Walmart has in Illinois? Don't know if that would put them in the top 10 employers, but it would help us understand what impact they have on the economy in Illinois. Walmart is a predator company which costs taxpayers in every state millions because their employees are underpaid and they have strict rules that limit who receives company sponsored insurance.

As of June 2022, Walmart employed 59,234 people in Illinois. Walmart has 184 retail locations in Illinois, and also serves customers online through Walmart.com.

4. Oh, they are worse than a predator company.

Which is part of why I found that graphic interesting. And, I have to say that, regardless of the particulars of the graphic, it does point out what is basically a company on the road to being a monopoly. That is also scary, since there seems to be no interest in doing anything about it.

One has to wonder just how much influence that have bought in that blue 'sea'... they can certainly afford to.
