https://www.instagram.com/coronavirusny/p/C-0f6EWPJNN/New York City Sheriff Anthony Miranda has been accused of repeatedly using the emergency lights and sirens of his department vehicle to speed through rush-hour traffic as he made his way to work and, on occasion, to escort his adult son to his job, the Daily News has learned.
Complaints filed with the citys Department of Investigation that included photos and video claim Miranda uses his squad cars lights and sirens to get to work absent an emergency every day.
----
He drives very aggressively and dangerously, the complaint read, noting that Mirandas car is often seen zipping along the right shoulder, passing rush-hour traffic at an excessive rate of speed for the traffic conditions.
---
Six days later, the DOI complaint was followed up with another claim of Miranda zipping through rush hour traffic with lights and sirens to allow his son to follow behind in his personal vehicle as the two made their way to the Long Island Expressway.
Anthony Miranda is abusing his city position to benefit himself, as well as his family members who are now exempted from waiting in traffic like everyone else, the anonymous complaint read. This comes at the cost of the safety of all motorists on the highway during rush hour.

(12,179 posts)I have seen it to get through intersections, but this guy seems to take it a few steps further by using the shoulders and letting his son drift behind him.
A few months ago some young firefighters were supposed to deliver an older fire truck to the next town over. They flipped it - one vehicle accident, late in the evening, middle of an intersection. Pics were posted on our local papers site and made channel 10 news. They had to close the road to get a crane in to flip it upright. Didn't hear squat about that after it happened. Wonder how fast you have to be going to flip a loaded fire truck (pumper)?
Note: For people familiar with Newark Delaware, it was at the intersection of Christina Parkway and Elkton Road at the Suburban Plaza shopping center.
