I'm running for NM State Representative against a Republican who has been in office since 2010. We have not had any Democrat elected to any partisan office in over 20 years. She was named an ALEC 'Star Representative'....thus, she is well funded and I have to be ready to respond with fierce opposition. I can't do that without funding for my campaign.
I'd love to see some DU support. I've been a member of DU since July 2003.
One can send a check made out to Committee to Elect Denise Lang to 2332 Union Ave Alamogordo, NM 88337 or donate through Act Blue via my website, ElectDeniseLang.com. Please 'Like' my campaign on Facebook, Elect Denise Lang.
I had my campaign launch and Primary Watch party on Tues....great turnout. Any Otero County DU'ers out there?
We've already walked the majority of one precinct, only 20 more to go!! We have doubled those who walk now and got many new volunteers on Tuesday.
As Thom Hartman said, "Tag, I'm IT."

(23,156 posts)ran for the Kansas State House a while back: Do post card follow ups. Have a bunch printed up to either look like your yard sign or whatever campaign slogan you're using. Send one to every single person who has said they will vote for you, and to everyone who seems persuadable. Don't waste the postage or the time on cards to those who you know won't vote for you.
If at all possible, personalize the message on the card. If, for instance, the voter was pruning her roses when you stopped by, mention them.
Save those lists. If you run again, start your campaign by sending a postcard to those you think voted for you. The message will depend on whether you're running for re-election or making another try for the seat.
Trust me, those cards are highly effective.

(4,235 posts)I ordered postcards with room for labels or writing a message or stickers (small ones!) so that we can customize for the reasons you mention. We're taking notes as we walk and knock, again as you suggest.
Folks like you, women like you who step up and run provide me with courage, inspiration and hope. Do you ever think of running again? Where do you live?

(23,156 posts)I doubt I'll ever run again. I really don't know the state or my area well enough to be an effective legislator, or pretty much anything else. Plus, I'm 67, and I think my political days are behind me.
Just to clarify what I'm suggesting for post cards: order standard sized ones. One side, like the picture of a picture post card, features you in some way. Even just "Elect Denise Lang" would suffice. The other side has the address part on the right, and the message part on the left.
Also, do you have walking cards? Something that you hand out at every door? One side should have your picture and a sentence or two that sums up your campaign. The other should have bullet points of specific issues, programs, whatever you want to emphasize. And I apologize profusely if you already know all this and have done them.
Another thing: You really ought to have all of your campaign materials printed by a union shop, and it should show that at the bottom. Democrats still support unions.
I still have various campaign materials packed away in boxes that are in back corners of closets.
