Head of NM health exchange stepping down

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The chief executive officer of New Mexico’s health insurance exchange is leaving for a job with a California-based health insurer.

Amy Dowd, who has been running the online marketplace since July 2014, has accepted a job with Molina Healthcare where she will be associate vice president of marketplace operations. In the new job, Dowd will oversee Molina’s coverage offered in nine health insurance marketplaces exchanges, as well as billing for those plans.

Dowd did not respond to a request for comment Friday.

“Amy Dowd has informed me she has accepted a new position and has provided her resignation as CEO of beWellnm, New Mexico’s health insurance exchange,” said J.R. Damron, the exchange’s board chairman. “We are grateful to Amy for her valuable contribution to New Mexico during her time with the exchange and we wish her well in her new role.
