Burlington Dems re-elect Riggins as county chairman

urlington County Democratic Chairman Matt Riggins was re-elected to a second term without opposition as he continues to modernize an increasingly influential county political organization, moving it away from the sleepier days of his predecessor, Joe Andl.

Under Riggins’ leadership, Democrats flipped a second Assembly seat in the swing 8th legislative district and have made additional gains at the local level in traditionally Republican strongholds like Cinnaminson and Medford.

“Last night was proof that Burlington County is fired up and ready to defend our democracy. Democrats showed up to voice their support for the hard work this Committee is doing in every corner of the county, from Shamong to Bordentown, and from Palmyra to Pemberton,” said Riggins. “With the nation’s 250th anniversary approaching, it is clear that our community feels it is more important than ever to defend the values that define America: a country where all are welcome and given the opportunity to build a better life for themselves and their families.”

Riggin’s executive board will also return: Evesham Councilwoman Heather Cooper as vice chair; Sarah Holley as recording secretary; Rob Wells as corresponding secretary; and Nicholas Repici as treasurer.
