YourHHRSnews.com: The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed
New Jerseys first case of a child sickened by enterovirus D68 (EV-D68)
The child went to a Philadelphia hospital, has improved and has been discharged, according to the state Department of Healths Donna Leusner. It is irrelevant where the child is from, she adds, because this is the time of year that we see respiratory viruses like enteroviruses and we now know that this strain is in our state...
While the majority of children will be able to weather this virus without hospitalization, some children, both with asthma and without, may be susceptible to more severe respiratory issues, said Dr. Jeffrey Seiden, a Virtua Pediatric Emergency Department physician at Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia...
It's irrelevant where the child is from? Well, I hope she's saying that in order to prevent a panic. And I hope that at the very least, the NJ health department has warned hospitals and schools in the child's home area to be extra vigilant and watch for signs of it spreading. But then again, the state health commissioner IS
a Chris Christie appointee...in fact, the state health commissioner is the spouse of Christie's ex-chief of staff!
