The wind. Not much else to report -- but the wind. Essex County, N.J. Gusts probably at 40 - 50.

Empty garbage cans blown onto the streets. I laid mine on their sides and put rocks in them to prevent their joining their friends on the street.

That's rough! There isn't much that is worse than that. I don't really mind cold weather, I like it better than the heat, but being out in those temperatures when you're getting howling winds feels like you're freezing to death. Hope you keep warm!

They are not happy and are audibly groaning. Hopefully none of them collapse.
(Southern NH, cold, windy, bitterly cold in the wind.)

Here most of the time, winter or summer. If it's not common, it's an issue. Good thinking with the trash cans.

our heat went in the middle of the night! It was 57 degrees in the house when I woke up.
Then amazingly mid morning it started working again on its own!

I swear our house is haunted.
Floretta must be angry.

Wow, glad your heat started back up again!

I was greeted with a knock on the door mid-morning. It was 2 PSEG guys saying they were checking to be sure no bamboo from my forest would take down a power line. Was I ever grateful!

Imagine a company with the foresight to check for problems before they happen. Boggles the mind.

is the woman who lived here when the house was built in the late 1800's. We bought it from the estate of her daughter who grew up here and lived here until she died. She left no heirs.

We're the first family to live here that is not a descendant of Hiram Cook, who owned what is now Verona Park.
Ever since we moved in, there have been strange goings on - we're all convinced that it's Floretta's mischievous spirit. I don't believe in ghosts, but things have happened for which there's no plausible explanation. Thank goodness there's no scary music.

I agree that PSE&G is very responsive, and it's good to see that they're being proactive!
