Tim Walz coming back to Nebraska's 2nd District for Harris on Oct. 19
OMAHA Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, a former Nebraska high school teacher and coach, is making a second presidential campaign stop Oct. 19 in Nebraskas 2nd Congressional District.
Walz visited La Vista the weekend after being named Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris running mate. He hosted a rally that filled a concert venue in suburban Sarpy County with supporters hoping to win a single stray Electoral College vote from the 2nd District.
The 2nd District is considered up for grabs by many political observers, despite a slight Republican lean. It has split twice in the past four presidential elections, going most recently for President Joe Biden in 2020 and Trump in 2016.
Harris leads most national and local polling in the 2nd District, while former Republican President Donald Trump leads significantly statewide. Both campaigns are knocking on Omaha-area voters doors, but Harris and her backers have put more money into local advertising.
