Group's ads encourage GOP voters in Nebraska to step away from Trump
OMAHA The text messages started popping onto cell phones in Nebraskas 2nd Congressional District last week, with words and videos tailored to appeal to a slice of Republican voters who might be squeamish about voting for former President Donald Trump.
The texts are part of a $500,000 digital and streaming media advertising push in the Omaha-based swing district part of a $15 million national effort in swing states to chip away at the margins of Trumps advantage with conservative voters.
One of the texts, from a man identifying himself as Clint, said he wants a better world for his two daughters, so he is voting for Vice President Kamala Harris. It said he previously voted for Trump.
The core of his message is that he cant support a candidate who treats women the way Trump has. He says, Trump hates women. He treats women like garbage. The ads designers told the Examiner they aim to give GOP voters permission to vote for someone else.
