The National Weather Service has issued Red Flag Warnings for Saturday night and Sunday until midnight as low humidity, gusty winds and dry thunderstorms make fire conditions unpredictable in central and northcentral Montana.
Counties affected by these warnings include Cascade, Fergus, Judith Basin, Lewis and Clark, Meagher, Glacier, Liberty, Pondera, Teton and Toole.
Wind gusts could reach 30-45 mph depending on elevation, causing erratic fire behavior in the affected area.
Incident management teams are concerned about the possibility that the Rice Ridge, Alice Creek and Park Creek fires may join together because of the weekends change in weather.
