From KC and you got that right. I fear the next time we elect a governor. It's sure to be a Repub. and will be in for a horrible ride. Hopefully some of the things passed in the state house by these idiots will hurt enough right wingers they'll change their minds about those representing them in Jeff City. Won't be holding my breath though.

(1,156 posts)Republican. Remember, Jay gained tremendous support once people became comfortable with the job he was doing as Missouri's attorney general. After our Blunt Trauma (Matt Blunt, son of Roy, was MO gov.) voters were ready and willing to go for a democrat as governor; and then he was elected to a second term.
Who might run? I expect it will be Chris Koster, current AG and ex-Republican, who has been a Democrat long enough that we Democrats have decided we can trust him. Will he win? Sure. Why? In addition to the good job he's been doing as AG, he has a sort of a secret weapon: He is absolutely drop-dead gorgeous and plenty of people will vote for him on looks alone.
I'm also encouraged by the progress of Jason Kander. I'm not saying he'll run for governor (I hope he runs against Blunt Trauma Senior instead), but his quick journey from unknown Kansas City attorney to MO's SOS has been pretty amazing. How did he do it? Hard work, extreme likeability, intelligence, and going all over the state speaking to groups of people both large and small. Whoever runs for gov. next as a Dem can do the same thing and win.
