Douglas County, Mo., voters deciding "use tax" on November ballot

PRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - In Douglas County a ‘use tax’ is up for a vote.

According to the ballot language, a ‘yes’ vote will allow the county to collect sales tax already collected on online purchases from the state.

“Every state has a use tax provision in addition to a sales tax provision and every state has for well over a hundred years,” said professor David Gamage with the University of Missouri.

We asked him to explain what a ‘use tax’ is.

Yup

Nuttin there.
Maybe lotsa folks get everything online now
I don’t.

On edit:
I could see a use tax going for roads
To upkeep them as all the trucks deliver packages. Right?

County taxes aren’t enough for sure as it is mostly farmland. The taxes aren’t high either. I had ten acres.
