204 students not immunized could be 'removed' from Rochester Public Schools March 1
Two hundred and four students will be "removed" from Rochester Public Schools by March 1 if they aren't vaccinated, or if they don't have a valid exemption.
The school board unanimously approved a resolution Tuesday to remove the "unusually high" number of students without immunizations, or valid exemptions, after numerous attempts to contact, or work with families.
"We've been working extremely hard to reach out to families... try to help them," Superintendent Michael Muñoz said. "But we finally got to the point where we had to draw a line and say, you need to get this done by this date."
While there have been handfuls of families that the district has had to work with previously, this is the first time, Munoz said, since he has been in the district that the board has adopted such a resolution.
