Pool question being posed to Zumbrota voters during primary election

ZUMBROTA, Minn. (KTTC) – A volunteer-based organization called “Board for Building a New Pool in Zumbrota” is asking voters to okay a new swimming pool for the city on this year’s primary ballot—a project has been in the works for years.

According to the board’s chairperson, Meg James, the city’s current swimming pool was built in 1971 and is no longer operational.

“We’re asking the citizens of Zumbrota to come together and vote to support our community and create a place where kids can swim and take swimming lessons—where families can come and people can generally recreate,” she said. “We went through 22 proposals and finally landed on the 22nd proposal.”

According to the referendum, the new pool would feature a new bathhouse, diving board, and deck slide among other new features. The project is estimated to cost around $4.2 million, with the referendum requesting $3 million from residents The group stated tax implications will be around $17 a month per household.
