'Scandal' stars to appear with Harris-Walz campaign in Madison Heights
Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential campaign is bringing stars of the TV series "Scandal" to Oakland County this weekend in a push to win over Michigan voters, according to campaign officials.
Actors including Kerry Washington and Detroit native Cornelius Smith Jr. will be at Sunday's canvass launch in Madison Heights for the campaign's "Fighting for Reproductive Freedom" bus tour, the Harris-Walz campaign in Michigan said in a statement.
The bus tour will also reach Flint, Ann Arbor, Lansing, Grand Rapids and Marquette.
The Harris-Walz campaign started the tour of at least 50 stops on Sept. 3 in Palm Beach, Florida. Abortion is currently illegal in that state after the first six weeks of pregnancy under a law that took effect May 1. A citizen-led initiative to protect abortion there, a measure known as Amendment 4, is on the November ballot.
