The funeral in Worcester. Thanks to all firefighters.

I happened to turn on the TV this AM to hear the local news. What I saw was the funeral service for the recently killed Worcester firefighter, Mr Davies.

I don't usually watch this type of televised event but I must tell you that the Catholic service for this brave man was impressive.

I subscribe to no faith and have never thought much about it. You either believe or not.

As I watched the procession and the service, I hoped these services were a comfort to the family of this fallen hero.

I thank him and all those other firefighters who serve us in ways we never think about.

I hope Firefighter Davies is at peace and that his family finds comfort in all the support from the thousands who attended or lined the route to the church and cemetery.

geezer guy. That little kid who went to the wake, despite his parents' request he stay home after school, that got to me. Then the brother's eulogy, and the fire-partner's eulogy. Heck, I needed some tissues.

Hats off to police and fire folks everywhere.

They put their lives on the line for us every day.

I know not every policeman or fireman is perfect, but compared to Congress, compared to so many in our society and national celebrities today, I'd rather live next door to one of these folks than any famous or powerful person.
