Voters to Consider Charter Amendments Again in Town Election

Three charter amendments that passed at the November 2025 Special Town Meeting will be considered for a second round of approval in the March 14 town election.

The amendments concern the Petitioners’ Advisory Committee, the veterans’ agent/services officer and veterans’ graves officer and the Volunteer Coordinating Committee.

Elimination of the Petitioners’ Advisory Committee was proposed because there have not been enough volunteers to fill the committee. The committee was created to aid citizens who need assistance in preparing petitioners’ warrant articles for annual or special Town Meetings.

The elimination of the Select Board’s appointment authority for the veterans’ agent/service officer and the veterans’ graves officer would remove those roles from the Appointments section of the town bylaws.
