"a bacon-wrapped hot dog in a fried pickle"

Each year, the Eastern States Exposition rolls out some new food items designed to encourage fairgoers to throw out the diet for a day and pig out. When the six-state fair in West Springfield, Massachusetts, welcomes the public from Sept. 17 to Oct. 3, what will the newest sugary, carby, cholesterol-dense, deep-fried delights be?

The ‘Bacon Wrapped Dilly Dilly Dog’ is more than just a corn dog. It’s a hot dog wrapped in bacon, then put inside a huge hollowed-out pickle, then dipped in cornmeal batter, deep fried and served on a stick. It will be sold in the Meatball Factory’s booth by the Lion’s Club, and outside the concert venue.

Biggie Waffle Burger
White Hut, which has a booth in the central food court, is bringing back an old favorite, the fried onion-bacon double cheeseburger between two waffles. But White Hut has goosed it up a notch. Now, their Biggie Waffle Burger also has hash browns inside it and is drizzled with sriracha syrup.

Deep Fried Pineapple
The Coffee Break, which has a booth in the Midway food court, is introducing deep fried pineapple on a stick, drizzled with coconut sauce. Chef Luis Lopez, who is in his seventh year at The Big E, specializes in the ultimate fair foods: deep fried Oreos, deep fried Snickers bars, deep fried PBJs.
