Water main break forces closure of North Harvard Street bridge

BOSTON —A major bridge for commuters than runs between Brighton and Cambridge was closed for Friday morning's commute in one direction.

The Anderson Bridge, which runs from North Harvard Street in Brighton to John F. Kennedy Street into Harvard Square in Cambridge, was closed after a large water main that runs under the bridge ruptured Thursday night.

Massachusetts State Police said traffic on the bridge will be closed outbound between Boston and Cambridge. The bridge is open to pedestrians.

There are detours in place for commuters including an MBTA bus line.
