Last week, Massachusetts Gaming Commissioner James F. McHugh and Gaming Commission Executive Director Rick Day announced they would be stepping down from their respective positions.

Both men cited wanting to spend more time with their grandchildren and other family members as reasons for moving on from the commission.

While, McHugh will remain on the Commission until Sept. 30 and will then retire. Attorney General Maura Healey announced Wednesday that the application process for his position is now open.

The governor, attorney general and treasurer are each designated one appointment to the state Gaming Commission. The remaining two members are chosen by the three appointing authorities.
