how busy was your polling place?
Mine was pretty busy. What that means, I don't know.
As usual, I voted straight Dem. Hope a lot of others did the same.
Go Martha!!!!!!!!!

(45,274 posts)I was #501 at 9:15 am, & that's more than the total number of votes cast there in the Sept. Primary. A big turnout is maybe 800 in normal years.
Something's happening, but I don't have much sense of just what.

(17,055 posts)Mid terms are not usually this busy. I don't have a clue as to what that something is.
Here in MA, I'm praying it means a win for Martha Coakley. But that ass, Charlie Baker, has a pretty good lead if you listen to the pollsters.
Nay
(12,051 posts)when I was there at 10:30, and the Dem manning the outside booth said it had been crazy all day.
And, to my surprise, Chesterfield County (for the first time) is requiring a photo ID. I didn't know they'd passed that little Repub law here. No problem for me, but who knows about others.
Another anomaly -- one (of 2) of the registrar's computers was down, so the line moved half as fast. It didn't look like it was discouraging any voters.
What do I think this means? This is a heavily -- I repeat, heavily -- Republican district and area, so it means the Pubs REALLY got the vote out to vote in their idiot, Dave Brat, to replace Eric Cantor. Brat is a complete moron who wouldn't even debate Trammel because he trips over his own feet. He holds the economics chair (funded by the Kochs) at the same university Trammel works at, but when he gave his first news conference to announce he was running in the Pub primary, he was asked what he felt about raising the minimum wage, and he said he didn't know, he'd have to research it. This, from the economics chair of a university. OOOOOOKAY.
Does it mean all the Dems are out voting? I sure hope so, but our numbers are small here, so I doubt it means that Trammel will win. It sure will be interesting to see how close he comes, though.

(8,176 posts)the Governor's race? I'm nervous about that one. My daughter is a teacher and was really pissed off about Martha's support for charter schools after the Teacher's Union endorsed her. She was not going to vote in that race, she was so angry. But she does take voting seriously and did not want Baker in so...all kinds of reasons for voting for or against.

(23,655 posts)I walk out my front door, turn left, and walk 500 ft. to my polling place. There is rarely a line. I was in and out in 10 minutes this morning. I am in a very blue district.

(59,440 posts)My polling area was packed but I live in a red area. So there you have it. Dems have no one to blame but themselves if Charlie Baker gets elected.

(7,504 posts)I will admit that, although I voted straight Dem, I am not very happy about the choice I had to make for governor. Not really fond of Martha Coakley, can't really say why, she just does not make me feel comfortable.
If she wins, I hope she does a good job. The Republican candidate is a disaster for this state.
Sure wish we had more choices. The candidates during the primaries left me flat. This gubernatorial election leaves me feeling the same way.
