Hi every one. I had to get a new pass word. Seems like every so often the D.U. forgets me. Has any one received scam calls lately? I got one the said a suspicious package with my name on it was being held at the border. One said it was from social security Justice Department and a arrest warrant had been issued for me. I hung up the phone. I wonder if others have received similar calls. Be careful and do not give out any personal information.

(22,940 posts)No problem, though.
The guy offered to fix it for me over the phone.
The disturbing thing was he did have my name, my address, and my unlisted phone number, all correct.

(10,084 posts)Its a scam. If you play along far enough they will ask you to go to Target to buy gift cards to pay off the debt or the judgment. Gift cards!

(4,133 posts)I keep hearing that most of these calls originate overseas. My suggestion is to impose a fee, say, $.05 per call. That wouldn't create much of a hardship on the average phone user, but scam artists would be hesitant to log several thousand calls per day. Legitimate businesses could apply to have the fee waived.

(1,157 posts)I won the publishers clearing house contest several times in two weeks and all I had to do was send them the money to pay the tax on the prize. They were very persistant... I recognized the caller's voice. Plus, I hadn't even entered the damned thing. More recently the caller asks if I know who he is. then launches into his spiel which my terrible hearing saves me from his story. I now just tell them I have no time for their bullshit...then tell them to call Trump voters, cause they like cons and will believe anything.
