Latest filings show Collins accepted thousands from opioid distributors, retailers

Third-quarter filings with the Federal Elections Commission show that a Political Action Committee (PAC) created to aid Sen. Susan Collins’ re-election campaign accepted $6,000 from medical distribution corporations linked to the opioid crisis.

Collins Maine 2020 PAC took $2,500 from the McKesson Corporation Employee Fund and $2,500 from the AmerisourceBergen Corporation PAC during September. The PAC also accepted $1,000 from a PAC run by Walgreens pharmacy on Sept. 30.

Collins Maine 2020 PAC is the senator’s joint fundraising committee that distributes funding to her personal candidate committee as well as to the Maine Republican Party and Dirigo PAC, a committee affiliated with Collins that supports other candidates for office.

During the third quarter, Collins Maine 2020 spent a total of $590,327.59. Of that total, 66.4% was distributed to Collins for Senator, which is expressly dedicated to her re-election.
